Imagine the feel and style of John Frankenheimer’s 1971 Grand Prix classic motoring movie with wa-a-ay more beautiful cars and you're halfway there. A simply stunning series and a must for all motorsports, classic car and racing enthusiasts. Perhaps one of the best motoring/motorsports videos we've seen.
GT Racer has the one essential ingredient that Formula One never quite manages to convey - the sheer joyous delight of driving exotic machinery extremely fast against a bunch of like-minded lunatics.

When it first appeared on UK TV, anybody who's ever been to a motor race immediately knew they were watching something special.

  1. the soundtrack is superb; the Americans a bit tame

    by Michael, on 26/11/2009

As someone who owns a bunch of the cars seen racing, particularly a DB4, I am entranced as much by the outstanding music chosen to accompany the races as the engine's sounds. I have watched this DVD & the one on racing DB4s at Spa both by myself and with a girlfriend many, many times..and it's the music that make this leisurely diversion so enjoyable for both of us. When I go driving any of my classics, I always listen to both music and the engine - it's an enveloping experience and Davidis' choice of tracks expertly conveys the emotions of each moment. Please, more interesting songs, they're definitely part of the ecstatic trip! The only quibble would be the boring interviews & laps at Lime Rock. This NYer is certainly unimpressed with the lack of intensity and panache shown at US circuits. The European, at least, have managed to retain the "coolness" and esprit of vintage racing.

  2. GT Racer: Season II

Hey TR, check out the brand new GT Racer: Season II. One of the DVD extras is the option switch the music On/Off.

  3. Could have been great without so many interviews and definately without the annoying music track

    by TR, on 06/11/2009

The whole concept of this series is great....racing classic GT cars on great tracks. Unfortunately, someone didn't explain to the producers that people who like cars like to see more cars and especially cars in their proper environment, ie. on the race course going through the gears, rounding corners, passing cars and completing an entire lap. MOST IMPORTANTLY...people who love cars love the SOUND of cars. We do not need to listen to a sound track that drowns out what we love most....the sound of the race car. At least give us the option of shutting off the music so that we can listen to OUR "music". Most of us are Walter Mitty types who will never have the opportunity to do what is done in these films. Riding in the car lap after lap listening to the sounds of the race is what we would die for. Let us complete our fantasy and shut the damn music off!

  4. Mouthwatering

Awesome cars in this movie! I dribbled over em!
